Only 3.3% Gets Through: Independent Research

Independent Research

The Physics Was Previously Unknown, Even to the Inventor Who Patented It.

Dr. Ralph Budwig, University of Idaho, had never tested a product that came close to this result. He measured 3.3%.

3.3% of the force gets through. The other 96.7% never reaches your chassis.

That 96.7% is the reduction measured in Budwig’s University of Idaho test. It is applied across fill levels, liquids, and tank sizes as an assumption.

An Invention, Later Confirmed

An inventor built something that worked: a patented design (2003) that reduced liquid movement inside a tank. The following year, independent research at the University of Idaho confirmed why it worked: Harmonic Dissonance.

Dr. Budwig’s specialty was surge force management, and he was internationally known for it. Surge Busters exceeded his expectations, based on all of his prior testing experience.

The Basic Idea

On a flat, steady highway, the liquid inside your tank is relatively calm. Small, harmless movement creates little energy. But a disruption: braking, a turn, any change in speed or direction, gives that energy a chance to build into one large wave. In an emergency maneuver, that surge force can seem like a tidal wave. Harmonic Dissonance prevents that from happening.

The Numbers

96.7%

surge force reduction Budwig, University of Idaho, 2004

51.9%

reduction in G-force on a side-by-side comparison of an operating fleet of already baffled home heating oil delivery trucks. In addition to the welded-in baffles of one truck, Surge Busters were also added. G-force sensors, devices that measure how hard something is being pushed or jolted, were installed on both trucks to track movement on three axes: side-to-side, front-to-back, and up-and-down.
